My car has been apart so long, I can't remember exactly what was in the red highlighted area in the picture. As I recall, there was a strip of sealant between the cowl and fender in this area. I've looked at some member's disassembly pictures and there's definitely something in this area. My car was blasted and cleaned to the point where there's no evidence. Any advice would be a huge help. Thanks!
I have found a few different types of sealers and fillers in foam, rigid and flexible material. All seem to maybe be brushed, sprayed on or squeezed from a tube maybe? A real spongy material behind sail panel when replacing rear quarter panel on a hard top. Some filler material stuffed in crevices especially around rear inner wheel wells that dries pretty rigid. I also have come across a **** load of material that seems to be poured into lower kick panel vents that is heavy and dries hard as a rock. It seems like a black liquid rubber but is very dense and heavy. I'm thinking that is for water from rain while driving to go somewhere ind not puddle on metal. Im not sure there is replacement material for this stuff today? Around your cowl I found a red sealer around duct work and inner cowl. It seems to have been sprayed on and dries hard. Around top seems I have scraped a white or black seam sealer that still had a little flexibility probably squeezed on then brushed?
BTW paint looks good. What brand and type?
Thanks! It's PPG's higher line with 4 very evenly applied coats of clear. It laid beautifully! The deck lid has been color sanded and buffed and looks fantastic … can't wait to see the entire car done!
