Riding a bike
Riding a bike
Ever hear that phrase "It's just like riding a bike?" It turns out riding a bike isn't actually all that easy. Take this bike, for example. It looks like an ordinary bicycle but with one tiny difference. You may think you can ride it, but I guarantee you're wrong.

Several years ago a friend of mine replaced the manual steering on his 75 F 150 to power, all the tie rods and everything had to be changer, he was at my garage and doing all the work himself, when he finished it was time to close and leave for the day, the only problem to turn right you had to turn LEFT, He couldn't deal with it, we later moved the Pittman arm to the other side of the box to correct the problem , I will never forget that, We still get a good laugh out of it.
Thank you for showing us this.
A local fairground used to have such a bicycle, but also you had to pedal backwards to go forwards. The challenge was to ride it 10 yards with your hands on the handlebars to win a prize. I don't think I made it past 2 yard in many attempts, I used to compete in amatuer time trial races as a youth so I thought I was at least an above average rider. The showman could do it, he would do so quite often to show it could be done. I never saw anyone else manage it.
I wonder if the showman could ride an ordinary bicycle?. I think it would take some serious training to be able to move from one to the other at a moments notice. Perhaps an ambidextrous person might be better at this than someone simply left or right handed.
Roger.
