Repo Dual Gate Good or Bad?

I have most of the pieces of a factory his/her shifter. However, when I start pricing all the pieces that I either need or are pitted. I think the cost is getting pretty close to a new repop. Anyone have experience with the new ones?

Also, is the neutral safety switch the same between a regular floor shifter and the dual gate?

Depends upon the year of the car. 1970 had the NS switch mounted to the rear of the shifter; on later years it was the same as the column shift cars. Seems as if it wouldn't really matter as the column backdrive linkage moves the collar on the column so if you have one on the column and it works now, it should work with the DG .

The column I am going to use was out of a 70 Cutlass that I started on. It has a factory regular floor shifter with a NS switch that worked. The project is a 70 442 that was a factory dual gate car, I just do not have all the pieces for the dual gate set up. If they used the same switch and bracket I am good. If not, I need to know what to kook for.

Any help would be appreciated.

I do not think you need the specific Dual Gate NS switch. 1970-only had the special switch, bracket, and linkage on the rear of the shifter but '71-up used the NS switch on the column that was actuated by the backdrive linkage. So if you are interested in functionality, you are set. If you are interested in a "factory original 1970 setup", you would need to acquire the specific 1970 parts that I think are fairly pricey these days.

The dual gate will work with the column nss as long as the back drive linkage isn't sloppy.

In 1970 the neutral safety switch is specific to dual gate. There is an NOS switch on eBay right now this is the auction number below just copy and paste into your search.
