Removing tar & oil splatter

Removing tar & oil splatter
Drove home from an oil well yesterday. Highway crews were applying hot tar as a crack sealant on one of the secondary highways that I travelled & I managed to cover most of my work truck in tar splatter.
A pressure wash would not touch this stuff but it took of all the mud from the rig roads. In my efforts to clean the tar from the truck I found something that works really well. Spray WD-40 (fish oil) on a Mr Clean Magic Eraser & rub in circular motion. A light mist of WD-40 on the really heavy spatter sections & let it penetrate for a moment really helped too. Rinse with water & wipe dry. Had the entire truck clean in an hour. Works like a charm. Give it a try if you get tar, ashphalt, oil or even poplar tree sap on your ride.
Time for a beer! ...maybe two!

I was working out doors with gloves. I was amazed at how easily it came off. A rag & the WD-40 did not work nearly as well as that Magic eraser with WD. Those things are awesome for cleaning stuff & taking off marks on walls etc.

WD40 can clean other things besides tar. I've used it to clean and dress grungy spark plug wires where I figured lacquer thinner or other strong solvent would have taken off the printing.
If all there is on wiring is grunge, WD40 works for that too. I was never that lucky. Someone had always done a quickie engine detail with a black spray bomb before I got there. So out came the lacquer thinner.
PreKleano or Duracryl works good to clean off grunge too.
