Radiator Question

I just installed another radiator in my Cutlass and coolant is not circulating, the radiator cooled the donor car fine so I wouldn't think there would be any blockage. Could I have a air pocket some where in my cooling system? The radiator I removed cooled ok in cool weather but it was running hot with
the 455 and warmer outside temps. Thanks for all help.

When you drained the coolant did you flush out the block with the hose? More than likely your waterpump is failing and needs replaced. The propeller could be rusted or coming off the shaft and not spinning. Having a blockage is rare.

When I fill the coolant in a empty system I always take the thermostat housing off and fill the block first. Then install a new thermostat and gasket and fill the radiator.
I am also thinking you have a stuck thermostat or a bad water pump. Of both

Thermostat is 160 and less than a year old but I am going to remove it and see what happens, the water pump moved the coolant with the other radiator. I think I am going to flush the system and try Red Line water wetter for the summer time after I get coolant circulating. Any body tried water wetter? Thanks!

I had a thermostat that was just a month or so old fail in the closed position. It was one of those things I thought I might as well replace as I was was putting a new water pump on. Learned that new isn't always better. I installed the old one that I had taken out and it's been fine for years now.

I removed the almost new thermostat and problem solved. I hate thermostats because I have had so many problems with them over the years, it will be a cold day in hell before I put one back in my Cutlass. Thanks everybody.

This is not a good idea.

To save me from having to repeat things posted in the past, read this thread.

This post isn't too bad either.
