Question about quarter panel interchange 70-72 A-body
Hi All
Does anyone know if the quarter panel from a 1970-72 4 door car will interchange with any other body type? I know the back doors won't interchange with the wagon due to the shape of the door glass. But I'm looking at the area around the wheel well back toward the bumper. The lower part looks like it might be the same as a 2 door, possibly used as a patch for the lower quarter panel? Or is it 4 door specific? Anybody know?
John - those are the same (2 dr VS 4 door).......I have a donor piece I cut from a '70 4 door Cutlass (P side) and it sure appears to be the same as the 2 door section/piece. Holding the 4 door donor piece up against the QP on a 2 door and it looks to be the same. Just held it up there "loosely" so it's not like I measured it, etc.....but still.....appears to be the same lengths, etc.
As I mentioned above....I'm just referring to the lower area behind the wheel opening.....not the whole QP. Of course, the wheel lip/opening all the way around is probably the same as well since the wheel opening MOLDINGS are the same (2 door Vs. 4 door). Probably other areas as well but we all know at some point forward of the wheel opening things are different as well as possibly the higher up the panel you go....have never made a super close/detailed comparison.
I cut the piece I show above from a 4 door for the same reason.....would serve as a donor piece for a 2 door. The piece still needed some patches put in it but the car was on its way to the crusher so WTH.....why not save some decent sheet metal.
