Smile Production And value info on a 1970 Cutlass

Hello ...moved these to the right forum ...
I have been looking for a suitable replacement for my Rallye 350. I recently found a cutlass that has a W-25 Hood option & L74 verified with a build sheet.....does any member of the Forum have any idea how many W-25's were built for 1970

also, If the build sheet is not correct for this car,( is there any way to tell if its correct...part of the vin# is missing) what is this car worth with the W-25 hood, dual gate, air, tape, wing, sport wheel, nice body and driver quality paint...will need a few minor things to make it road worthy. The interior is out of it ..pending floor pans which are to be replaced...thanks
for any help....

Thanks again

Any records that Olds had were 'destroyed' quite some time ago 'in a fire' IIRC. You won't be able to get that info, sorry.

If you have the build sheet but it's missing part of the VIN? I hesitate to say it's worth anything at all. The VIN and build sheet go hand in hand. You could have 2 'nearly identical cars' come off the same production line. The VIN numbers could be sequential. If you lost part of the VIN on the build sheet, which car does it belong to? I'm of the opinion that without all the VIN on the build sheet, it's pretty much not worth anything. Sorry if that comes across wrong.

How much is it worth? No clue right now. How about posting some pics?

Okay, Allan, I thought you knew this, but there was no fire. Old wives tale. But never the less, *most* of the records are "gone", as they were simply pitched. But there *are* some spotty ones like ones I unearthed at the GM Heritage Center a few years ago. Including some 1970 records. As I mentioned in this related thread, there were about 1,000 Cutlass S produced with the W25 hood.

That really depend on what part of the VIN is missing and whether the body number is there.

Agreed, in this case I assumed it was the last 6 digits. IMO they are the ones that really count. I have never seen a 72 build sheet up close so I don't know if the body number is on it. I know it's on the broadcast sheets.

Just recently I found out that 442mustang's 72 Cutlass S has a VIN with the last 3 digits within several hundred of mine. However he has a M20 and an FE2 suspension. I have a TH350 with a standard suspension. You would find that info on the build sheet. If I had his build sheet with the last 3 numbers missing, theoretically I could modify my car to match his build sheet and claim it was his car. Anyway, I think we both understand what's being said.

Thanks gentleman for the imput....the vin starts 146...then looks like an 8 and then looks like the top part of an 8 or 9...or its a 2. but I do appreciate and understand where this is going....so of course I'm on the fence with the purchase...nice car though...it also has some crazy codes for a "SP paint change" Y62 & Y68 "Color Comp EX"
Thanks
