Production questions

I am involved in some LEAN Production issues at work, have some auto industri related questions I hope somebody can answer.

1:Approx. delivery time on customer ordered cars.Lets say in 1970.
2:Factory shut down time between model years.Ex.the time between the last 1969 ,and the first 1970 car left the plant.

Have anybody calculated how many variations it was possible to order a car
from the F85 line in?

#1 If memory serves, through product delivery about three weeks for employees but I believe through the dealers was about double that.

#2 Here in Lansing, change over was roughly two maybe three weeks at the worst starting around mid to late july end of production and around the 1st week of august for running full production. (pilot cars) were run the prior week before to work the bugs out.

Wmachine (Kurt) has more accurate info for some the years for end of production and commencement of production.

#3 your on your own!

Thanks. That was exactly what I wanted to know.

About #3.The lean mgf.litterature claim that modern car mgf.can offer a wider option list than the old mass producers.I have a hard time beliveing this when I look at all the A-body cars GM offered around 1970.

I would agree with you! The trucks are about the only way to get single options. Cars have mostly PEGS. prefered equipement groups.
