Perusing craigslist and I run across this...

A 1975 442 (claimed) with a tri-power setup on it. What are they worth on their own? The car doesn't look all that bad and it has the original 350 to go along with the 455.
It just sort of caught me off guard.

I didn't think the 3x2 setup was available in 75. It could be an aftermarket intake manifold.

What's he asking for it? Didn't Offenhuser make that manifold aftermarket back in the day? Forgive the ignorance but if it fit a 400 why wouldn't it fit a 455?

There has never been an aftermarket Tri-Carb intake made for Olds motors. Offy only makes dual quad intakes. Yes, people have machined custom intake tops for the dual quad to mount 3x2. This isn't one of those.

The only one that exists for the second-gen motors is the factory 1966 L69 intake. That's what you are looking at. The Tri-Carb setup, if complete, is worth $4000-4500 by itself. If the car is less than that, you know what you have to do.

You got where I was going with this Joe. He is asking $6,500 with the tri-power, and $5,000 without it.
Unfortunately for me the car is in Texas, so someone go and get it.
