Algon FI intake

Does anybody know any information about Algon FI setup? How much is it worth and how hard would this be to setup?

Thanks

its hard to set up...it wasnt intended to be driven on the street..its hard to work out the idle...which pills and on and on

it was designed to run wide open...and idle to the line...after that its a lot of work..and weather influences it..at least thats what i learned when i had mechanical FI on a cruiser

its expensive to covert it to electronic fuel injection..but that fixes all the issues.

i tried to run a hillborn and i was enthusiastic for about a month..neat to look at...really cool to start and pull out of the shop..but SUUUUCKED to cruise...

theres more parts than in the pics..it needs a pump thats mechanical to run it etc

value? who knows..theres a limited market...they are rare..i dont think they made 25 or 30...but rare doesnt equate value...desire to own it dictates value.

ive seen other algons bring 500 the 3500 depending on application and completeness...

BUT sometimes they surprise ya and when 2 people fight for it..it could go sky high on an auction site.

i saw a ford set in the same condition bring 2k...anything NOT CHEVY is on the rare side...i think the ford price is a good comparison to start..research it...ebay is a good indicator of what they really bring

heres a recent auction..only 1 bid...but it did bring 1600...

Thanks for the info.

I hope Mark chimes in and let's me know if this is something he could setup and $$$ before I make an offer for this. It looks to be near mint condition.

Damn this would be enough of a reason to buy a 66 Cutlass that I always wanted, and have this sticking out of the hood mounted to the 455.

I have one of those Algon manifolds also. Mine came with equal length stacks. Yes, I have all the parts, including the barrel valve and butterflies. I just removed it to polish the intake.

Very nice Joe. How difficult would it be to get it running right?

Depends on what you mean by "running right". As noted, these constant flow fuel injection systems were designed to make HP at wide open throttle only. There's really no provision for part throttle response or any of the other niceties you'd want on a street driven car. Since each runner is completely separate, there are no vacuum ports for vac advance, power brakes, etc, either. Setup requires selecting the proper mechanical injection pump and bypass "pill" to get the correct fuel curve.

If you are looking for a street setup, have the manifold converted to EFI. Plumb the old injector holes as a vacuum plenum.

Thank you Joe. I think I'm going to pass on this. Just thought this is a pretty cool intake and I have never seen one on Olds engine.

Not looking for FI, I can tune my carb just fine.

What size are the butterflies in the Algon Joe?
