Pertronix module breaker plate problem.

Today I installed my Pertronix module but there is a tang from a previous ground wire spot welded to the plate. It can not mount to the original points position. But it can be mounted in another position counter clockwise. I'm wondering if the other position on the plate is for a duel point set and how many degrees I could be off. It doesn't seem to be 180 degrees off. Or, maybe the plate is manufactured for different points positions for different divisions or years. Distributor is a reman from maybe 12 years ago. The module perfectly dropped into the "other position".

No problem shifting the mounting position of the module. I got the engine started after a bit of fiddling with timing. Just need to fine tune. Interesting that the distributor plate has mountings for two different points locations.

I don't know for sure but you said it's a reman dizzy so maybe there is a universal plate that encompasses early and late distributors? That's just a guess! Glad you got it going I would imagine the vacuum can may now be in a better or worse spot depending on how the dizzy was stabbed.

I still have the original distributor somewhere but one of the points screw holes is stripped. I'll take a look at it. Maybe I'll rebuild it if I can find another distributor plate.

Took it for a quick ride today, runs smoother and stronger than with points that I didn't clean up after it's winter slumber. I only tuned it by ear. When I get time I'll dial it in better, get a sticker then take it for a good run. I got sick of cleaning and/or changing points every spring.

Do yourself a favor, keep a set of points in your glovebox.
