PCV grommet install

Have a '67 CS 442 and have to replace PCV grommet and finally found the correct style and am having hard time getting to push it in place. I see someone suggested soapy water but still too stiff. any other suggestions on how to install new grommet? thanks, Mike

thanks for fast reply. sounds like a plan. I will even try with hot soapy water for the best of both worlds. You guys are the best, thanks. I will report back in a few days when I get time to try it.

I use silicone grease, not soapy water. Silicone won't attack the rubber the way petroleum greases will.

finally got around to the install of PCV grommet and the results are in, heating it up in hot water (actually brought to a boil and then took it out) and with the help of my kitchen ware round ended knife I was able to force it into the hole. The only issue was making sure it was lined up correctly with the opening and pushed all the way back into the opening and with a little persuasion from the knife it went in. Thanks for the help and as usual you guys are the greatest. Thanks, Mike
