Part out or sell whole

I have a 70 442 out of dmv system I want to either sell or part out. What would bring the most return on my investment? Missing hood carb AC box pump has lower quarter rust bad grill. Tried to load pics bu failed. Thanks

Define: Return. The best return would be to take the time to part it out piece by piece but that creates a headache in terms of neg. price with every tom, dick and harry on the internet, in addition to shipping costs. If time is any factor at all then see if you can sell it whole for 8-10% return..it's better than the S&P 500 at this point.

That's true, it does take a lot of time to part one out. I will have to set a price, post it and see what happens. Thanks

Monday I made the journey to Mitch's place and I purchased this car from him. Very nice guy am glad i got to meet him.

It is a real deal 70 442. He did locate the build sheet. Many pieces missing and a little rust, ( mostly a little floor patch work and the bottom of the rear quarters is it) Original numbers correct 70 442 with TH400 both block and trans correct to the car. Rearend is a 12 bolt type 0 but not the original. Build sheet says 3:23 and it has a 3:08. Lots of missing parts but I have most of them. Factory bucket seat floor shift console car. Had a tilt column that was missing as is the console, hood, a door glass, rear sway bar and a few other items. I will be putting it back together as much as I have parts to do. We will more than likely be taking it to the Portland Swap meet in two weeks. Factory AC car as well.

Don't find many numbers correct engine and trans cars anymore. This will be a great start for someone to restore.

I started a seperate thread on this car.

Mitch will be doing a 72 Supreme factory 455 4 speed car. That will be a fun car as well. He has never driven an Olds and this car is a M20 with 3:23 rearend car. I think once he gets it going he will find out how much fun they are. What a great sleeper too. He will be looking for advice and pointers. He has lots of great car knowledge and I am sure will build a very nice car.

I'll also point out that while parting the car will bring more money, that assumes you sell just about every part. The reality is that you will sit on the carcass for quite a while, or will junk it for pennies on the dollar. Plus, what's your time worth? What's the cost of having that cash tied up in a hulk?
