paint formulas

I know where to get the paint codes for 67 Cutlass's, but does anybody know where the formulas are to be found for each color?

The paint formulas are different for each paint manufacturer and type of paint. Typically a paint vendor will be able to look up the formula for his specific paint brand and type from the paint code.

Well, that may be true but I have had no luck in finding any concern that is able to look up interior paint color formulas for my '55 Cadillac? And, yes, I do have the codes.

Have you tried TCP Global?

I sure did, with no luck whatsoever. They claim the formulas are not available.

Then your only option is to take a sample of the original paint to one of the vendors who has an optical matching system.

I will say this again, as I have mentioned in several other threads referencing this same issue....if you have a good sample, such as a piece of the interior that has not been destroyed by sun and seems to be in good shape, bring it to your local car paint distributor. Ask if they have a Dupont Spectro Master book. This is a "color map", which will have several hundred color chips, sorted by color family. Match up what you have to the chip. Usually, you can find something near perfect. What the corresponding chip will give you is a code. That code will produce a formula which can be mixed, RTS (ready to spray). Choose which gloss level you prefer, medium is most common, and have it mixed in Dupont Vinyl. Other paint companies may have a Color Map of their own.....
