Padded dash repair

Anyone out there have a suggestion on padded dash repair? My 69 Cutlass has a pretty good original padded dash except for an ugly crack on the top surface above the steering wheel about 5 inches long from front to back. Hate to tear apart the original dash which still looks pretty good to replace the pad. Also save some $

There are methods I've seen using 3M bumper cover filler. Check around the interwebz.

I got a quote from Just Dashes for 1800 bucks to recover the dash pad on my 69, this was last year. The imperfection isn’t really a crack, it’s more of a star shaped flaw. Its only visible thru the windshield if you’re looking for it.

For almost 2 grand, the dash will have to be in much worse condition before I’ll spend that to fix it! I’d try some of the repairs suggested before having it recovered.

Thanks for all the input. I think I'll take my chances on one of the available products and see how it goes. Nothing to lose and don't want to deal with just dashes!

I have no experience with these but it's a cheap option

Here's what I did when the dash cracked on my '72 Supreme. It's an easy fix and it's UV resistant.
