Who knows what Foose will dream up? Sometimes he shaves the door handles, mirrors, windshield wipers, marker lights, bumpers, etc.
One thing you can pretty much guarantee, it won't come out looking like it did to start with. Some of his designs I like, others I find just hideous in spite of the amount of labor and materials that went into the build.
Likely the car will become a candidate for BJ at some time soon?

He is a big fan of "the fade" body paint job to enhance shadows and curb appeal but from a old X painter that is a lot like a candy job....unless he donates the exact code for mixes (which would be a miracle to replicate anyway) if the car takes a dent or ding...there aint NO repairing that faded ****....so then what? But he is not a resto guy right. I ageee I can for sure respect the insane labor/cost of a Foose car but......yeah.

I think Chip Foose is the real deal. I keep waiting patiently for my wife to screw me around as to where my car is (and hopefully he'll have it). If you watched him freehand the hood cut-out on a already painted hood episode you would probably be persuaded at least a bit. Regular everyday people can't do that. Do I like the artwork of Michael Parkes? Sure, two pieces of his work. Is he an artist? Absolutely.

I'm with Allen-R: Some I like, others I don't. I think at times he gets too artsy-fartsy with his designs and he just loves to spotlight his custom wheels . Too garish for me a lot of the time. But I would like to see his take on an updated '68 or '69 Cutlass/442 design, ala current mopars and mustangs - I think there is real potential there if he doesn't get too free-flowing with his lines. I told my wife that if she ever has any plans like that, she needs to keep my wishes (above) in front of The Man - no cut fenders or 20 inch wheels for me!

I wouldn't want him touching any of my cars. I'd have to go rescue them with an arsenal. I suppose it's good he is cloning a 442 instead of messing with a real one. Perhaps he could go work on a year that needs help instead of 70, which was a great year. Maybe 73, those are fooooglay.

And talented ... totally ... but then, .... art is relative

Pundits hated the painting’s cost—$1.8 million—and they hated its look. It was the most a Canadian museum had ever shelled out for one piece and it was spent on an eighteen-foot-high canvas depicting three vertical stripes, or “zips” as Newman called them (two blue and a red down the middle). Felix Holtmann, then chair of the House of Commons Standing Committee on Canadian Heritage and one of the Gallery’s most vocal critics, said that “two cans of paint and two rollers and about ten minutes would do the trick.”
https://www.gallery.ca/en/see/collec...php?mkey=35828 Does that look like $1.8 million dollars worth of anything?

If you like to take nice, but weathered and worn original cars and turn them into mod's, then I guess you like it. I still cringe, remembering the nice original 72 Supreme convertible with original engine and A/C, that had been his father's and now the son's, that Foose dropped in a chromed up Chevy crate engine, junked the factory A/C and put huge wheels on it. I'd shoot my wife!

Personally, I've never believed the 'we stole his car' bit. No matter how nice a car you give me afterwards ... playing someone like that for a week ... No way you do that for 8 seasons without someone getting a punch in the mouth.

There is limited reality in reality TV. Have to assume they are sure the owner will want a resto-mod in the end and is not a purist, as that reveal would be real bad for ratings. Also have to assume some owners figure out the game or are in on it from the start, especially after being on the air so long.
While I may not like all the styling decisions, they usually don't start with really rare or special cars. I do hope they keep the drivetrain Olds on this one though.

Saw the episode tonight with the 442.
As you would expect, Foose put too much personalization into the car and did a lot of incorrect touches. Mainly paint, body and wheels. The one thing I did like was the removal of the bumper bolts and filling of the holes with patch plates. I just liked watching an hour of a 442 build which rarely happens.

He took what looked to be a nice 442 and destroyed it's value. The original 70 fenders which had small holes were replaced by aftermarket fenders, he chopped the center of the front bumper out, got rid of the numbers matching drive train and swapped it with a crate motor, closed off the firewall, the list is endless. The only thing he did right was the interior, he had it done in leather to look like the original. Other than that it was a lot of OPGI aftermarket parts bolted on what was once a nice 1970 442. What a shame

It was nice to watch a show where the called it a four four two the hole episode, until the OWNER in the parking lot said he had a four forty two! Auh!
Did you notice they used an all fiberglass hood from OPG? It looks like then had to "work it" to get the right fit too. During the reveal they where holding the hood up, then I noticed there where no hood springs lol.
