Opinions: Which spark plug is best fro Starfire

Have 65 Starfire and want opinions on which to use. has 425 and original uses AC 44s. just a driver not performance car. Don't like Autolite. Thanks

Why not stick with the AC44's?

I wanted to but many places don't list them. Didn't know if modern plugs made any difference in better power, burn cleaner, last longer and I maybe using point conversion.

None of that really matters, just use the brand of your choice that cross references to the AC 44.

I bought a used car with Autolites once. When I went to change the plugs, one cracked around the hex, leaving the threaded portion in the head. That was the first and last time for me.

Find yourself some old stock 44s or R44s and you should be good to go. Just be aware that the 44 is also used in Chevrolet and Pontiac musclecars which has driven the price up. You could also try a 45 (one heatrange hotter) but that might be inviting detonation in a high compression engine on today's gasoline.

The only plugs my stuff absolutely didn't like were Bosch Platinums. I've even had good luck running Motorcraft plugs in Olds engines.
