Question Opinions on '71 Cutlass grille & headlight bezels

When I bought my '71 Cutlass Supreme convertible last year, the previous owner had painted the grilles and headlight bezels black. I like the black and won't take it back to gray. I may even put 442 grilles in it in the coming years. The black is flaking off, so:

1. Should I keep the grilles all black, or just the center black with gray border like the 442 grilles.

2. Do you like the black headlight bezels like the '72 442, or cleaned up and silver like it's supposed to be, like the '71 442?

Picture 1 is my car
Picture 2 shows the 1971 442 grille and headlight bezels
Picture 3 shows the 1972 442 grille and headlight bezels
Sorry if #2 and #3 belong to anyone on here, I pulled them from Google.

^^^^^I agree. Blackout grills and headlight bezels may look better on other colors. Well, you asked for opinions.

Since your asking,if it were my car I would go back to the factory gray grills and silver headlight bezels.

If your going to keep the black grill,it probably would look better with gray border.
If you go with black headlight bezels,at least clean up the edges so they are silver like the original 72 bezels.
The solid black bezels look bad.

Just my personal opinion.

personally, I think it looked better the way it came from the factory, and the black convertible boot looks out of place also, should be the same color as the interior!

Yes, the 442 looks better with the correct boot than the Cutlass with the black one!

Pic 3 is the sharpest in my opinion... but that is the same as mine, so I might be a little biased.

Yes, I agree. The black boot looks horrible. It was there when I bought it and just haven't changed it yet, but I plan to change the boot to the proper Sienna color. Picture #3 is a different car, not mine. I just used Picture #3 as a reference pic for the grille idea.
