Blacked out grille and headlight bezels???

I'm going to try to go for this blacked out front grille look on my 1971 cutlass S and I was wondering is there a special grille I would have to get? And for the headlight bezels can I just paint them black or do they make special ones to? Thanks

The bezels can be painted - but I'd use a satin black instead of gloss. 71 grills are made from pot metal, so they can easily be painted as well. I have to say I'm not a fan of that look, but to each their own.

I'm not a fan of that look, either. I love these cars because they have lots of chrome. The more chrome, the better......in my opinion.

x2.

But if you do want to paint them, I agree with Allan to at least go satin or even flat black.

I like the chrome as well but I'm just considering my options.

I had a 72 that I did that to and I really liked it, actually the car in my avitar - but that's a back end view. Ha, I just noticed I put Chevelle stripes on the trunk - what a dork!

I thought about doing this to my 72 "S". It currently has supreme grilles in it, and with the black exterior I thought it would look nice. Maybe It'd leave the exterior edge a bright silver color, for some contrast.

The '72 Hurst had the right ballance of black and chrome on the front end. Get some pictures of one and try to go for that look.

The center part of the grill and the recesses on the bezels but the outside was left stainless.
