Opinion On Wheels-Needed
Okay, I'm going with 20" dodge truck wheels with my stock Dogdish hubcap on my 62 Olds. But, I can't decide what color to powdercoat them. So What do you think?
1. Black

2. Black with a red pinstrip

3. Light Grey with a red pinstrip

Wow,
That doesn't look like my old 62 I had years ago. I'm old school, I don't quite understand the concept. I'm not saying I don't like it...I don't think I've ever seen a 62 look like that. I would opt for the black wheels with red stripes

20 inch Dodge (not even GM) truck wheels on a Classic Oldsmobile!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is really frowned on here. Based on other people posting large rimmed cars for criticism, I am surprised people aren't jumping down your throat.
What's next---lambo doors, candy bar logo paint job.......?
Those renderings look really sharp. Hope you see it through.
Black , no pinstipe.

black with red...
I too vote for black with red, I also like the suicide door idea!!! and if you could get the hardtop to retract ala ford skyliner/sunliner that would be the cats azz!!

Thanks for all the opinions guys, everyone I've asked is liking black with red pinstrip. I'm just afraid it will be to muscle car esk. Maybe a double pinstrp will keep it a little more early sixties. As far as the people that don't like the idea of a larger diameter wheel, all I can say is it isn't "donk". I'm a hot rodder and just want to build a car that I haven't seen. I want to keep it era, but skirt some lines, mainly with the wheels. 20" version of the stock steel wheel.
As far a suicide rears, I did look into it, but there isn't really enough room for the hinge with the wheel well being right there
thanks again and let's keep the comments coming.

I'm with Erik, us Vista Cruiser men hear a different drummer drumming.
The thing with those big wheels is that any stripe on the outside of the rim looks like it's a stripe on the tire, chrome lips look like whitewalls on the darker wheels. The double red stripe would look good, be more Redline tire/Radio Flyerish.
I would go get some stainless 20 inch salt flat style wheel covers spun up and screw them to the rims, set of lake pipes. no room for porta-walls. For wheel covers you could always use garbage can lids or 20 inch drum cymbals? The cymbals would be cool natural or polished, garbage can lids would have to be chromed with Olds Fiesta spinners.

Please tell us how you will overcome any bolt circle differences. I hope you won't have to use "adapters." Oldsguy had some adapters on his 69 Delta 88 and they failed when he was driving down the road one day. Wheel hub adapters are only for trailer queens IMHO!

They are 5X5.5. and yes I am using adapters. I would disagree with the folk that think they are for trailer queens. I know multiple people that run them on their open track roadcourse cars. It is all about where you get them. If they are stamped with "made in china" yes, you are pushing the limits. I have an engineer friend that tells me when you have somethings manufactured in china to a specific allow. They will just use their low grade stock and mark it with what ever you are ordering. That is why you always buy American, companies are held liable here and you get what you order.

If you get adapters that your friends have used with success then that is great. I hope they work for you. I wouldn't ever use adapters after the experience my father had. Luckily he was only going about 30 mph at the time.
FWIW, have you considered Cragar wheels? They make many steel wheels that are close to that style.

PS. My tires won't be such rubberbands as shown in the illustration. I'll be running 45-series.

Black with Red.
Me personally though, I think 20's with rubber bands is too much.
I'm definitely a newer style enthusiast, but I think it's overkill.
I think more profile would be better looking personally.
