openfaced alternator rebuild

Here is an openfaced alt I rebuilt (restored) for a pontiac buddy. Please critique and point out any flaws you see. He was very happy with it, but I am open for improvement if you see anything let me know.

Oh yeah!

Looks great. I thought it would be cool to rebuild alternators and generators for friends or maybe even to make a few bucks.

Fantastic job! I have one I'd like to rebuild myself, care to share how it's done? PM me if you wish to keep it on the down low.

The 10SI is probably the easiest to rebuild. I just use quality parts and USA made if possible. Everything must be cleaned very good removing all dirt and grease. The hardware and fan and pulley are acid dipped to remove any oxidation and old plating. Then blasted. Then sent out to be replated. The only thing I would like to keep to myself is the prep and finish of the cases, but just having them blasted will make them look good.

Nice detailed work.

The surface finish of the aluminum case you picture is rougher than the factory finish that was obtained by Wheelabration, a form of peening, not metal removal.

Perhaps you inherited a case with a previously done, improper surface finish.
