I've been wanting to create this hose reel for about 3 years now. Well, I finally found a round "tuit" in one of my junk drawers, so I used it to get this project done. I think I have about 6 hours total time into it and maybe about $30. I used a "snap-on" center cap type wheel because they're cheap and I have extras. I guess if I was REALLY ambitious I would have built it so the wheel/reel actually spins. But that would probably have required an additional round "tuit" and then I would have wanted to put a handle on the wheel/reel so I could wind it, then I would have wanted to put a rotor and caliper behind it, and then maybe a nice RWL Firestone Indy 500 tire and then, and then, and then...and it probably would never have gotten done.

 

looks good, you probably could have used a heavy duty lazy susan thingy, or an old front spindle and disc like you mentioned, then you wouldn't need a handle but a geared motor and a forward off reverse switch... LOL...

seriously i have done the same but used a steely and a hubcap, I have also done it with a bent cragar s/s wheel...

 

That is a cool idea. I have some extra SS wheels that I might be able to use like that.

Every old gas station around used old steel wheels for air and water hose hangers.
Not rally wheels though?

If the hose hanger is painted lower house color it's an SSIII.

I would be careful, you'll come home one day and your house will be jacked up and sitting on blocks and your wheel will be gone, hose too.

I had that idea for a while too, but never got around tuit...However what you guys should do is rotate the wheel so that the valve stem is at the top (makes it easier to put air in) and rotate the centre cap so that it points at the valve stem...and then you will be ready for a 'mag shoot'

 

In a pile of wheel parts. Now I've got yet another porject. Get the hose reel up to par.
