It doesn't look like much progress I guess, but I had delays while garage was being built and then summer and fall farm stuff which ate up a lot of daylight. I'm actually pleased and think maybe by mid to late summer it'll be back on the road. Put on new exhaust, springs, shocks, added sway bars to start the process....quite a different ride. Tweaked the carb/timing to get the best performance from the built 455 - would not want a 16 year old driving this beast....unless it was me, of course....ha...just wish it was 4 speed with buckets rather than a 3 speed with bench. I did find out that 'bare metal' is a lot deeper down there than you think. Got the hood stripped - 3 days, ~5 hours and 20 60 grit disks...will be going over with 150 grit, then 220. I did a small patch with that progression down to 600 grit, and I'm almost tempted to do the whole car that way, shoot it with clear and call it an early 'DeLorean prototype'...ha. Retirement is grand....I have about 5 projects going on with the car so I can switch to another task when I get bored or frustrated. This site has been wonderful with advice and members supplying some parts that I've picked up that I know I'll be needing when the reassembly begins. Garage and lift finished!! Day one of project suspension and exhaust drivers fender...patch panel welded dent filled by PO...gotta fix this rockers dinged and minor rust pitted....repair in progress down to bare metal....hands numb.
The nice thing about retirement is you can pick your tasks day to day or just take an afternoon nap. I've gotten it down to a science in the last 5 years.
