Copart requires a dealer license or a broker middleman.

It depends on what state you're in. PA is one state that doesn't require one. Non titled vehicles don't always require a broker either (I bought a sailboat in NY). The fees can be pretty high. I bought a $500 sailboat and it cost me a little over $900 to get it out the door. A lot of those fees are fixed. I think $300 was the fixed fee for anything up to like $3k. I think because I didn't have a dealer's license I had to pay sales tax too.


FWIW, just because you know dealer doesn't mean they can broker it for you either. The broker has to be registered with Copart too.
