Oldsmobile Pace Cars

I was on Newspapers.com and was looking for something on my car. No dice, but I managed to find the previous year's car, plus another pace car for another track.

Found some better pics - seems there's a father/son who wrote a book on DE racing history, and now the son has a written a book on Dover Downs.

Still no pic of my car, but it's neat to see an Olds given glory on the racetrack. I had seen a pic of this car pacing a race in a racing newspaper over 20 years ago but I was not able to discern if the car was a W-30. In these pics, it doesn't seem so.

Never saw the '69 pace car before. I'm sure it looked great in white with the argent SSIIs and redlines! Your '70 is quite the looker too, though.

Yeah, I know my car is peachy keen! [blushing]

I would have liked to have known the colors of this car - I'm guessing white and black. On a related note, check out this article from two years later. It mentions an Olds, but I don't know which car or which year other than it's not mine based on the paperwork I have showing when the first owner bought it.

The original 69 442 is at the Dover Nascar race this weekend. Cool the car is still around and in great shape. And white and red ! And even cooler the original pace car driver got to do a few laps again !

Thank you for the heads-up. Had no idea the car existed.

The '71 no longer exists, however.

I did not know the 69 existed either till I saw this article. And somewhat local to me.

Oh my, unfortunate for the 71 and for those in it. Did not know that history either.

I wrote to the current owner to learn more about the car. They could have been down the road for me, for all I know.
