oldsmobile engine in a chevy

I got these motors mounts that can be used to put an olds engine in a car where the frame is set up for a chevy. My granpa had some on a 455 in his old chevy pick up and a 67(i think) impala. I havent seen any part numbers on them except the rubber ones which show up as 68-73 oldsmobile motor mounts, im assuming they got bolted onto the bar at a later time. Im hoping that we can figure out what there for, so when we need to make a chevy fast or fix an olds its an easy drop in procedure.

The metal one looks a lot like 77-79 403 Trans AM mounts. The other one looks home made to me or like the metal part broke and he bolted a standard mount to it.

The 1977-1979 Trans Am with 403 Olds and the 1977 Firebird with 350 Olds motors used these engine brackets with the Chevy clamshell frame mounts. They will let you put an Olds motor in any car that uses the Chevy clamshell mounts. The 1980s-vintage Fleetwoods with Olds 307 also used this style engine bracket and clamshell frame mount. I have no idea why, since the Fleetwood frame is the same as an Olds 98 frame that used the conventional frame mounts and 2328 motor mounts.

The Chevy trucks are a mixed bag. The late 1970s trucks with the Olds diesel used 2328 mounts with unique frame mounts. Folks have used the Trans Am style brackets with the clamshell frame mounts but had to space them out from the block.

They could have come with the 307 Olds, 350 Chevy, or the 4.5 liter Caddy motor, but I'm not sure how that relates to the Olds engine brackets. Obviously only the ones with the Olds 307 will have the brackets we're talking about.

My response was in relatation to a part number. I thought he was looking for a car that these mounts came on originally to find a part number. I was just confirming what Joe already mentioned except I was giving an exact year rather than 80's Cadillac. 90-92 Fleetwood Brougham's were the only rear wheel drive Cadillac's that year. All of the other model Cadillac's were already front wheel drive. Fleetwood Brougham had two engine options 5.0 (307 Olds carburetored ) or the 5.7 ( 350 Chevy TBI ). The 4.5 came in front wheel drive cars.
