I am told if you switch from an olds to a chevy engine, you have to do somr fab work on the mounts. There are a few posts floating around. Keep me posted if you find anything.

Considering that the Chevelle and Cutlass use the same frame, that's obviously not true. The problem is that you have an LT1 motor instead of a more traditional SBC. Pretty sure LT1 blocks have different mount locations. Sell the Chubby, get an Olds 455, and it's a bolt-in.

Look, you could get an SBC in a 64 Chevelle and that's the same frame in your Cutlass. Just get the motor and frame mounts for the Chevelle. The bolt holes are already in the crossmember. There's no "fabrication" necessary.

If you click the search button underneath the main tool bar and type in engine swap or somthing there ar quite a few posts you can scroll through and read. I will ask a few people and send a few e-mails and see what I can come up with. Let me know if you have any luck

I will try to get back to you withen the next week.

I also have '64 Cutlass with 330 engine which I want to replace with LT-1 engine. The motor mount locations are different. Are there mount conversions available?

As stated, the Cutlass and the Chevelle are basically the same, you need to treat it as a Chevelle. So either you need to purchase or fab frame brackets for the LT1 motor mounts. Heres a helpful site to join:

Whatever happened to the time honored method of dropping the engine in, see where the things need to be, tack weld 'em in place, remove engine, weld mount tabs to frame... if no holes exist handy already. Just do it. Fab your own stuff as needed. Cut, grind, hammer, bend, weld.
