I am not sure if this is the best place to post this on the forum, so please feel free to relocate if needed.
I have an original GM#4304082 dome light lens for Oldsmobile cars from 1959-1964, see attached images below.
There are 2 of these particular lenses on my 1959 Oldsmobile 98 and I have been searching for years now to find a second one in good shape. I note that this lens is currently not available from any of the parts vendors.
As I still haven't found one after all these years, I have considered the idea of having this particular GM part number reproduced.
I am posting this here to see how much interest there is for this lens. If enough people are interested in buying a reproduction part (a pair of lenses in this case), I will consider moving ahead with getting the lens reproduced. There will have to be enough interest in order for me to recover the cost of the injection mold.
The GM#4304082 lens is used on cars with dome lamps in the roof rail area and the lens measures 6-1/4" long by 1-1/2" at widest point. Two lenses are required per car.
I have looked up the GM part number and these lenses fit the following cars:
1959-61 Oldsmobile all models except station wagons
1962-64 Oldsmobile 98 four door sedan, holiday sedan, and luxury sedan
1964, 1966-67 Buick Sportwagons
1963-64 Pontiac Starchief 4 door hardtop, Bonneville 4 door hardtop, and Bonneville 2 door sport coupe
The lens will also work for:
1959-62 Cadillac models except convertibles
1959-61 Buick closed models
If you are interested in a pair of lenses, please post in this thread so I can get an idea of how much interest there is overall and if it is going to be worth the investment to reproduce these lenses.
Roger, have you heard of Alumilite? There's no need to spend big bucks having a small batch manufactured. Since you have a good lens make a mold of it and reproduce it.
