Oldsguy needs our help

Ok folks, there ain't no Free Lunch

Oldsguy [and others] have kept this forum up a running but now we've got a problem.

Spam and **** keeps sneaking into threads and it's getting harder and harder keeping up with deleting this crap.

On a recent thread titled

"To whoever runs this place"
Gearheads78

Started a complaint

"Storm'in Norman" replied with something all of us should know.

Below is how to "Report a Post"

When you see **** or other crap on "OUR" Forum.

Please follow the procedures below and help Oldsguy keep up with these problems.

After you read this post please reply and let Oldsguy know you're ready willing and able to hit a little red "!" and report any post that needs to be deleted.

If we can get enough people in different time zones to do this one thing. OUR favorite board will improve and be be a better place for all to visit.

Come on folks, let's lend some support, and let Oldsguy know he's not out there alone and "We got his back"

NOW TO REPORT A POST

My point is something needs to be done to keep it for getting on in the first place. Thats why I suggested manual approval for new members. If a kid sees it (or the wrong persons wife) its too late. I have offered to be the one the allows the new member in or not.

A new one just popped up in the 67 4-door parting out thread.

Its still up after 40 minutes.

When anyone signs in you should just click on "new posts" at the top. That will show every new post since you last visit. You can do a quick scan for usernames like "twosexycoedswithstrapons" my guess is they don't restore Oldsmobiles.

I see your point [and the junk you mentioned]

I don't know what I'm talking about I guess. I just thought [obviously incorrectly] that if more of us [in different time zones] Reported Post of spam and ****, it would help Oldsguy out deleting this crap faster.

I really don't know the ins and outs of how this all works. I will bow to your knowledge of the situation

I am just concerned as I am sure you are.

By the by, nice car, nice work and cute kid.

First time I've seen one with images. This is where the "Ad block" extension for Firefox, pays for itself.

Right click and chose "Block all images from http://playpornovideo.com". They might be still there, but I don't see them.

Downside is, you have to see one before you can make it disappear.

Look at the top poster on the right, how does that happen? I think it would be a good idea to have to activate any new members, how you do it is the tricky part? Maybe the site needs a membership charge to post (for new members) . They wouldn't pay a cent to do that and if they do ban them and keep the cash.

Thank you.... Don't get me wrong I am not anti gentlemans entertainment but I need to go look for it not have it pop up in a for sale thread. Thank god my work computer blocked the pictures. That would not have been cool if one of the sales girls was walking behind me as that page opened.

I can't beleive it, I know something Norm doesn't .......................well sorta.

For reasons far to vast for me to understand, one of my computers brings up a classicoldsmobile page that is different from the other.

Norm, On the one he's speaking of there is a gray box that has statsitics in it.

Now, maybe someone can splain to both of us how come I get one on one computer and the other on the other computer.

Sorry for not being more clear. On the right of the home page, but Jokers69 already figured it out.

I'm using Firefox and I don't see it either. On the other hand, if I click on the Members List and sort by number of posts, these two jokers come up at over four BILLION posts each - for being "Junior Members".

On the other hand, I'm apparently in second among real members for number of posts. Of course, some people prefer quality to quantity...

Easier to find, when I looked on the right page.

https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...xpornoxxx.html Tied for #1, with https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...hotdog647.html

Likely, something left over from the last server crash.

I am in for any help Dan and the other moderators need. I monitor this site all of the time because I work from home and have two computers running 24/7. I can check easier then most. Just let me know what to do and I will knock the spam off any time I see it

Problem is, even if you report a post, I am not on it enough and not on constantly. If I leave it idle it signs me out after about fifteen minutes (browser function I think). More moderators may help. It is up to the site owner to initiate any new way of signing up. We can kick this if we keep at it. I have asked some people to help out as moderators to increase the monitoring, this may help as well.

Citcapp is now a new moderator, he is in the mountain time zone so we may get some better coverage. Lets' hope so.

Spam postings

Yes, I think adding to the moderator list would help pull these off quicker. At least that would be the easiest thing to try first. John

I am with Jamsbo, give us a heads up when you see spam and/or **** and we will strike with a vengence

PS My guess it that you were a hall monitor. I remember you, suspenders, pants pulled up to your tummy, white socks showing above your black shoes. bow tie and horn rim glasses, handing out tardy slips.

I ain't got a clue, but aren't you spose to be watching out for spam insted of using big words?

I've been real busy today trying to figger out how to change my air filter.

The Service Manual says, "Loosen wing nut and remove top of air cleaner. " I can't find the wing nut.
