Welcome aboard. So what kind of work did the car need? Post some pics and give us a little history. We love stories and pics about cars. Your car would be the model 4239 Hardtop sedan with no B pillar? We don't see too many of them around anymore. They just weren't as popular a seller as the 2 door models back in the day.

Something like this? BTW, I think it's cool that the Supreme 4 door hardtops still had vent windows!

One of my all time favorite 4 door hardtops was the 67 (not necessarily as shown in the ad though). Picture that with deepwater blue body, black top and SS1 wheels!

Welcome to CO

I like the 4 door hardtops. WIth the windows down most people will not notice the back doors. To bad so many of them have gone to the crusher. I am glad you saved one.

X2 on the pictures

Well, if the car you have looks like the one in the picture (red car obviously) you have a model 4239 4 door hardtop. On your VIN it should start out like this: 3J87(eng code)2(prod plant)000000

Your cowl tag your say ST72 34287 (??LAN??) 000000 on the first line
The second line will give TR (trim codes) and PNT (upper/lower)
The third line will have the build week and month

Chiltons is a general service manual. What you want is the 1972 CSM (Chassis Service Manual). There are tons of them on line - ebay always has some = mostly used at decent prices. Or you can buy them new from vendors like Faxon for more money as a reprint. Here's a few that I found in less than 5 minutes on ebay using the search 1972 Oldsmobile Manual

You might also want to consider this assembly manual:

I think that's almost impossible now unless you have one of the "Journey with Olds" . Don't even know if that book has the stats you're looking for. Olds was notoriously inept at keeping or maintaining those kind of records for some reason.
