An Olds I need to get

Who knew REO also dabbled with robotic lawn mowers?

Joe - That's fascinating, thanks for sharing. Reminds me of an REO gas powered, deck type, push mower, we had in the early to mid-60's. The unique thing about the mower was the push handle was a cylindrical tube that also served as the gas tank, that had the gas cap at the space between where your hands were. We used that mower for years and years.

I bought a REO walk behind with self propelled at the REO museum auction 2020. I need to get it cleaned up and set up for display in my shed. No more room for anything bulky in my garage.

I also have a super clean Reo reel mower with the famous 45° Reo engine they made at the plant. Mine is one owner nice with all paperwork from new but missing the tartan plaid clippings basket. I had a Reo go cart made from plans using any gas powered obsolete reel mower, mine was a Reo Royale. They made a three wheeled version similar to that unit with a tractor style seat as a riding mower. A neighbor had one of them and I wanted it bad but they would never sell it to me even after years of disuse.

I had to study this pic for a couple of minutes to figure out that he isn't riding sideways on that mower... Ransom was pretty ingenious to come up with that contraption in those days. Thanks for posting Joe.

"25 pound receiver and 20 pound transmitter". Damn! Today we'd be making it happen with a cell phone. It's always awesome to read about the ingenuity of the early guys. Also cool to see him sitting in a chair in his suit playing with one of his toys.
