Old oil filters

I recently picked up some old PF30 oil filters for novelty sake as much as using them. Is there any risk in using them, I'm wondering about the old media breaking down and circulating in the oil. Am I over thinking this?

Dont have a verifiable answer for you, but if you have multiple filters, cut one open and see if the filter material is degraded.

Yes I believe these are the choice filters as they are from the period with all the embossings. I may take a chance and try one and then cut it open.
