The Old Lady is going to be in a parade

I received a phone call today about my car, seems this lady was doing some business in a place where I had my car parked(waiting for parts) and she fell in love with the Old Girl .She hunted down my phone number and wanted to know if I would be interested in allowing it to be used in the Chico Pioneer Parade in May. After a few dozen questions it looks like I'll be driving four of the sports VP's at the head of the parade. For me this is quite a honor to have my car recognize and appreciated in her latter days. Now let us hope that it doesn't rain..... Pictures later this spring....... Tedd

Congrats Tedd. The biggest honor I ever with mine has been parades involving WWII Veterans. I know she will do you well. And you won't need any dash lights.

Congrats... Parades are a blast and you have one of the best looking cars for a parade. I've done the Indy 500 parade in the 72 Olds 442 drop top many times. Took about an 45 minutes to do the route with the 455 at idle. May is a quirky month in Indy. It could be hot a steamy on parade day or just plain ole cold. I always used a fuel scent for the units behind me. It was a nationally televised event and all of them are archived on You Tube.
I've had Ludacris the 7 time Grammy winner in the car, Mark Cuban and family of Shark Tank, Keith Colburn Captain of the Wizard of The Deadliest catch, Paul George of the NBA LA Clippers when he was a Pacer, Jeff Foster of the NBA Pacers, Krista white winner of Tyra Banks Show Americas next top model and Windell Middlebrooks the actor to name a few. Ludacris was an Oldsmobile owner FYI.
Enjoy your parade, put the shine on. I always made sure the brakes and cooling system was up for the task and I always put on a new radiator cap for each event. I also put down a thick foam board on top of the back seat bottom for thier feet since more than likely be sitting upon the top rear seat back. I always advised as to where to sit on the seat back so they don't fall down into the top well. Proof of insurance was also required. I got a few of my friends cars in the show as well with them having Mario Lopez the actor in a 65 Impala SS drop top and Dave Hester from Storage wars in a 68 Pontiac Catalina drop top.
Enjoy.

Way to go. This goes to show people that you just never know what might happen if you actually drive your car around and not just keep her parked for shows.

Congrats.

Congratulations. You'll get some good press. Do your pre maintenance for peace of mind. My old man damn near once catapulted a "Miss Flame" (firehouse beauty queen) off the deck of his 71 Corvette because the carb coughed in a parade.

Good show Tedd. The only bit of fame mine ever got was to be in the JFK movie, and that was minimal. If someone captures the parade on a video, perhaps you could post it on the forum.

Ted hats off to you and your ole'lady. Fond memories of the collage nightlife & bar scene in Chico. Anxiously awaiting photographic evidence.

She has been in many parades but seldom have we driven at the front and never ahead of the horse $hit. (cowboy town and them)
As far as prep goes that is why it was in the shop getting ready for the season. Generally she is ready to go any where any distance in the summer. looking at South Dakota later this spring its kinda a toss up between the Old's and the Miata we will see as time gets closer.

Yours was one of my most favorite cars at the 2011 OCA Nationals in Reno!

Pretty cool! How about your car? Will the old lady get to ride in it?

Congratulations Ted, what an honor for a car guy. Your baby looks great in your signature and avatar pics. I can imagine how gorgeous it is in real life. Enjoy !

Just fat wrinkled old men, me included but I'm looking forward to it.

Just a thought, I wonder if I should wear my school letter sweater, it's sports related program, or drive and try not to be noticed after all it's all about the VIP's next to me and not what I did 1/2 a century and 50 lbs ago....Tedd

That's something I could appreciate. You're driving a vintage car, so why not dress the part? I like the idea.
