Someone ever leave a note on your car?

I got one of those the other day. I usually call the person to chat just for $#!+s and giggles. Anyway, I wanted to get a feel for this guy as he wanted to buy my car and I'm not interested in being seduced.

Basically, the guy has a rear and a 455 sitting and wants a donor. SO WHY USE A REAL W-30 RAGTOP AS A DONOR?

Sure, maybe he thought it was a clone and wanted a solid car, but he wasn't even sure what year it was (I think he could tell, but he didn't bother). Just thought it strange . . .

That's funny. But not as funy as the idiot who hit a parked car and ran, got busted because there was a witness, then whined about being "snitched" on.

CAR NOTES

Crazy young buck up at the cottage left one under my wiper a few years ago. It had a lot of foul language in it,and the basic premise was that he didn't like my boat driving abilities. Confronted him later on and told him if he ever left ANY note on my car, [let alone one with swear words my wife or kids could find]the only boat he'd have to worry about would be the one over the dive site where the Police Dive Team was searching for his body.Strange how we haven't been invited over for evening cocktails since then

Yeah, someone did leave a note on my car a couple of times. They wrote it with their finger on the dust on the hood. So I hunted them down and had some strong words with them about it. Then I went and wrote on their car for good measure. Seemed to get the message accross. Fortunately it wasn't my 72, and the scratches did polish out. It was more the casual rudeness of how they did it that peed me off.

My wife found a 72 Cutlass very very very close to being identical to mine when she was at work this spring. She took a picture with her phone and showed it to me. She also left a note for the owner to call me and why. He did. Really nice guy. He has the same basic car, but with buckets and console. So a note didn't hurt. No, I didn't ask if he wanted to sell. My wife still wants my car or a Jag. I want mine, and can't afford a Jag so she'll have to wait until I can find another 72 that's worth buying.

Warning notice from the city! This is while it was parked in the drive way.

I left a note on a guy's car once. While hunting for a parking spot in a crowded mall I noticed a guy pull into a handicapped space then get out with no problem and walk into the mall. i found a spot quite a ways away then walked over to his car to see he had no handicapped sticker or thing on his plate or in his window. i was upset and luckily he had a dirty car so I wrote on his door with my finger ' you must be mentally handicapped.'
true story happened a couple months ago.

Interesting. The guy should definitely put up a hang tag or sticker if he is handicapped. I have a buddy that has a hang tag because of service connected disability he received in the US Army. You couldn't tell just by looking at him but he has 2 plates and 9 screws in one leg.

I've left a few notes on cars before. Mostly to ask if the owner is willing to sell it. I've never ended up purchasing the car though.

Well there are tons of those handicapped tags here as docs seem to hand them out to all seniors. My mom is 81 and has one that my dad had gotten when he got real sick but she won't use it even though she does not walk that well anymore. If you are going to park in the spot then you should have a tag somewhere , this guy was just lazy and younger than me

I though about leaving preprinted notes on nice looking Olds' I run across, with my email address, car picture, and an invitation to this site.
Although I have good intentions on growing the Olds community, I think most would probably see it in a negative way (spam, club payments, etc...)

Any opinions?

On a related note, long ago I used to leave preprinted notes on cars that parked WAY too close, stating that they should have left a can opener so i can get into my car through the roof...

I'd say if you phrased it right a note shouldn't give the wrong impression.

Regarding the can opener:

Funny . . . all I meant was "ever have someone leave a note wanting to buy your car?"

I was just surprised that someone could be such a dolt and think they could get my car for cheap. They clearly were not thinking.

They were probably hoping that you were hard up for money an/or not that bright. I assume they found neither of those senarios

And I always thought the only stupid question was the one you didn't ask.

Yes, I've left notes and had notes left. Notes left were from parties interested in buying, but I don't recall ever contacting them because I wasn't interested in selling.
My leaving a note was how I ended up buying my '67 442 convertible. Was contacted *2 years* after I left a note. Honestly! And the ironic thing was, I didn't leave a note that I wanted to buy it, I only left the note with my contact info because I thought the owner may just be interested in an Oldsmobile contact.

Who has the deciding vote?

X2. When no one is around to ask directly, a note is a reasonable way to go. There's no obligation or rudeness in showing appreciation or interest in another car. The owner is the one who has the deciding vote. Not really a big deal to me. In fact, if someone left me a note on my car asking if I wanted to sell it, right now I'd probably pay them to take it.... Hopefully the problems will be over soon.
