OK all.....I have been on here for a bit...

but I am still pretty new to this Olds world....anyway, I need to ask the more experienced Olds owners here a question....I was cleaning out the Cutlass today, and vacuuming it out and all of that, and I discovered some plastic "clips" on the front of the back bench seat. Can anyone tell me what these are for? Are they seat belt clips or something? Anyway, one on the drivers side is broken, and the other is missing altogether....the two on the passnger side seem to be okay...can someone give me a little insight to what these are, and if I need a couple of replacements, are they available from Fusick's or something? Thanks in advance.

If the clips you are talking about are mounted to the front, lower portion on the seat then it sounds like they are for the seat belts. They are mounted to the metal frame of the seat with screws. I assume they are to keep the seat belts in place. I do not know for sure of the years they are correct for, but I removed a set from a 71 Vista. I occasionally see these at swap meets. A guy at Lansing had a box of these last year. I do not know of any repos.

Could they be coat hooks for the back seat that mount to the roof beam?

A photograph, or a description of size, shape, and / or color might be helpful.

Of course, where are my manners...(and my brains)....photos as requested...as you can see, one photo was taken from the drivers side door. I'm assuming that there were two per side....the one on the drivers side is broken, and the passenger side ones look ok. I just wasn't SURE what they were for, and if there were replacements available for the broken ones. I tucked a seat belt in one, just to see if that is what they were for, so that's why you see it in the pic. Thanks.

Yup, those are for keeping the seatbelts out of the way, and out from behind your butt.

I've never seen ones just like that before, and I wonder whether they were factory or aftermarket.

Thanks Eric, I thought I had probably answered my own question, just wanted to double check. Hell, I didn't even know they were there till yesterday, so I couldn't tell you if they are factory or not either.

They are factory units and as you surmised, they are to retain seatbelts when not in use. I have a set also.

yep as stated seat belt retainers, you can sometimes find them sold separately so you can replace the one that is broken, they came on convertibles with front shoulder belts and they used the single one mounted near the courtesy lamp for the shoulder belts, so thats another option for replacement ratainers
