Oil pan touching frame

I recently bought a 64 F85 with a 455 in it. I’m in the process of trying to sort the car out making sure everything is safe. While changing the oil I was looking around and noticed the oil pan lightly rubs against the the cross member. It has a summit racing oil pan built to oe specs. The motor mounts appear to have about 1/4 inch spacers at the engine blocks. Might It have the wrong mounts? Any ideas? Thanks for any suggestions.

Something is wrong with the mount setup on that car. If it were on the factory 330 mounts then everything would line up fine. The lower end of a 330 is identical to a 455 and they will both sit in the same location with the same mounts.
I would confirm that you have the correct frame pads and block mounts. And then make sure that the frame pads are bolted to the frame in the correct locations.

Or the motor mounts are just shot and saggy

To me the spacers say otherwise.

The mounts do not look very old from what I can see. Are there possibly big block small and small block mounts? Eventually I will have to pull one out and see if there is a difference.

Ok, I did a quick search and found some info pictures posted by Joe P. It looks like a previous owner installed small block frame mounts from 1970-72 in my 64 F85 frame. I will have to pull out the mounts and what they are, they look like new should be able to find a part number on them. A #2261 mount should work? Info on this is great, I hope I can figure this out! Thanks

The so-called "small block" frame mounts are dimensionally identical to the original frame mounts that came in that 1964. The only way for the engine to sit too low is if someone installed the 1969-72 BBO frame mounts and incorrectly used the 2261 motor mounts. Measure the distance from the two top holes on the frame mount to the cross bolt that goes through the rubber motor mount. If the dimension is about 1.5", use 2261 motor mounts. If it is about 2.25", use 2328 motor mounts. There is no other option if the frame pads are original Oldsmobile parts. If that 64 was originally a V6 car and the prior owner somehow used the Buick frame pads, then all bets are off.

My car was originally a V6 car. The frame mounts in my car look like the small block 70-72 mounts in the picture of your post explaining motor mounts. When I have time I will pull everything apart and try to get this straightened out. It looks like having a V6 car is the problem. These are the problems you can run into buying a modified car! Thanks for all your help. Love this site.

The frame is exactly the same in a V6 car as in a V8 car. The only difference would be if the previous owner used the Buick frame pads. Without a photo I can't tell what you have.
