Oil change

l知 about ready for my semi-annual oil change and l知 considering using synthetic oil.
What are your opinions on going from Dino oil to synthetic oil?
My car is a stock 69 442 with 59,000 original miles

You still need ZDDP in the oil, even if it's synthetic. Royal Purple has a version that has this, as well as Brad Penn. These are the two that come to mind.

I wouldn't particularly if you have an original non-leaking rope type rear main seal. Stay with a premium dino oil.

Will this start a debate about synthetic and leaks???

Generating leaks is my major concern. In addition to my 442, l also have a 67 Camaro ragtop. I went to synthetic oil and generated many leaks. I would fix one and another would pop up. I ended up pulling the engine, resealed completely, serviced with Dino oil a d all is good for 4 years now.
I will probably stick with Dino oil in the 442

Sounds like you answered your own question. Use a quality oil with a friction package meant for flat tappet cams.

Valvoline Racing Oil is another one that has ZDDP in it. I use it in my 54.
