Quaker State Defy/Accel Oil

Anyone use the newish Quaker State "defy" oil? It's supposed to contain more ZDDP than other oils, but I wonder about it being "semi" synthetic. Every time synthetic gets brought up in the same sentence as the older cars, it's "no, run!".

A couple of guys were talking at a local cruise night about this oil they've been using lately. I was about half a quart low, because my oil cap wasn't tight, and some blew out on the highway. So I put some of this "great oil" into my car. It's called Accel, they said they found it at Walmart. I thought it was strange, and I googled it when I got home. It sems to be SF spec'd oil, which to me seems to be a marketing ploy at "suggesting" the oil is good for the older cars(so we assume more ZDDP), but what it really means is the oil doesn't meet the latest oil specs, but the specs of 1988, so it's "crap".

Through searching, Quaker state "defy" was brought up as a comparison. The "semi synthetic" worries me. I've been using Quaker State, the one with the engine guarantee. Green bottle, I think, and a stp additive to date, no problems. I don't really buy into the "race oil" phenomenon at $10+ a quart.

Thought the Defy might be a good alternative? Am I wrong about the Accel?

Not meeting the latest oil specs is a good thing IMHO...

Try this stuff and see what you think. There is so much mumbo jumbo out there about oil no two guys will ever agree on what to use. I'd ditch the STP before I'd worry about Defy being a semi-synthetic.

I thought not meeting the newest specs would be a good thing too, but t seems like it's not that it's good oil and contains the extra ZDDP, and not that its comperable to the fancy racing/"boutique" oils, but that it's just a marketing ploy to not have to meet lubrication/higher standards and sell cheap, garbage oil.

It's produced by Warren Performance Products, which i think makes Supertech brand(Walmart brand) oil, so I don't think it's going to be quality stuff.

Why ditch the STP? The rear main seal already drips a tad, I fear the semi synthetic would cause other leaks or lossen up and gunk in the motor and do damage..Given all the mumbo jumbo about the ZDDP I thought it'd throw this out there to see if ACCEL was a contender against Boutique oils, or just a marketing ploy to sell cheap oil.
