OCA turmoil
These OCA guys missed their calling. Gaming the system to your own advantage with disregard for the organization as a whole or the members thereof pretty well describes the activities of the two major [and only practical selections] USA political parties. I hope it's not detracting from their antics of "not providing show entrants with their judging results- with no valid explanation" per usual. Remember that, Mestad? I don't recall all the details... but my computer does. That one almost cost you quite a bit.
Of course they know each other. They are in the SAME club!!! It's like the Oldsmobile Mafia it is. Mr Nance is talking about the old letter. THe recent letter WAS written by Mr Yancey. What about you Olds chapter presidents and members reading this? Don't you guys have the nuts to stand up and say something???

You know...it's all smoke and mirrors! Mr Yancey has a bunch of guys to cover for him. Why doesn't he come on here himself and clear things up? You guys that are backing him are pawns and fools. Let the man speak for himself. Honestly...I think the OCA's time has passed. Look at our mission statement on the dated webpage. It SHOULD say, "The OCA is a group of car enthusiasts dedicated to those who love Oldsmobiles, to the friendship of all Oldsmobile enthusiasts, and to the preservation of these magnificent automobiles" . It says nothing like that! Preserve them? OCA gave 1k to the Olds museum last year from 171k of income. 500.00 the year before and we are sitting on a big CD. Our BOD is made up of some good guys and many non-thinking pawns. They don't do what the membership wants.
There's a simple solution to all that. Form another club, preemptively ban anyone who caused the OCA trouble, and let it die on its own. Competition is usually a good thing; the strong survive, and the weak don't.
There already IS another club. The National Antique Oldsmobile Club. They do limit membership to cars at least 35 years old, so they're up through 1979 this year. But I imagine that if enough OCA member leave the OCA and go over to the NAOC, they could take over the club and lift the model year restriction so any Olds can be a member. I'm sure the NAOC traditionalists would be thrilled to see this happen.

Mr. Richards: I don't have the original, I had just clicked on https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...tml#526281 listed in Rich61star's prior thread to look at the "original". Strangely, when I looked at it two hours ago, it was full of numerous grammatical errors, misspellings, and lack of spacing. Amazingly, when you click on it, now, everything seems to be perfect. The first time I looked is as I remembered it, with all the errors. That's the reason(s) I don't believe it's Pat's writing. Not getting in a pissin' contest with anyone. As to the NAOC, Jaunty, it's looking better and better, all the time. Colorado in 2016, too!

I received the attached directly from Ted Loranz two days ago. I imagine this is the Yancy email everyone is talking about?

Yes,that's the most recent email that I received also. If there is any doubt that Pat Yancy is trying to create havoc, that should be all the proof anybody needs. He professes to love the OCA and what it stands for but with his actions,he doesn't care about anybody but Pat Yancy. If I were him I would hang my head in shame, apologize to the OCA membership and enjoy retirement.

Edzolz, you and Aron need to read the most recent email from Yancey and tell me he didn't write it. You guys can keep your heads in the sand with blind loyalty all you want to but the piper is a fool.

Mr Nance + edzolz...I don't think anybody cares about the OLD letter...it's history. We are talking about the NEW letter. Why are you guys covering for Mr Yancey? You are pawns + fools! Let the guy speak for himself or post the new letter for all to see if you are behind him. Where are the other OCA members??? Are you that afraid of MIN or what? Speak up, now is the time for every good club member to come to the aid of their club and voice their opinion! Why don't you post your own letter Mr Yancey?

I am a member, albeit a member too far south to enjoy the full OCA experience. I receive the JWO and that's all I get from my outrageous fee for such a little thin rag. I was assured by Jerry Wilson that there will be more technical info to come, so I stayed on board.
As far as the in house bickering and what have you, I know very little on this matter and would like to be further educated on what is going on presently. As I can care less to bring back up the past and anything that will hurt the reputation of our club. A club that is supposed to keep the Oldsmobile name preserved and to educate our children. Not only on cars and comradery but to educate them about Oldsmobiles in general so that they will hopefully continue on long after we are gone.
I have heard in the past some really shady and unprofessional ways and characteristics of both Yancy and Crowdis. I don't like it one bit and for one I am glad Crowdis is on his way out of the treasury position. I am not here to repeat hearsay nor do I wish to hear it either. I want the truth on this matter and I am sure everyone else does too.

Mr Wilson is a good guy. What you have here is an old boy's network that wants to control everything. Then you have newer people (like Jerry Wilson) that are trying to change things. The Board of Directors has "good" guys and "bad" guys. Sometimes the "bad" guys pretend to be "good" guys and then go back on their word, or don't show up when it's time to vote on an issue.
The old school members are not keen on the web stuff, so our web page is always behind. They won't approve of big bucks to fix it although we have a huge CD from collecting dues over the years. In the last JWO, there was a treasurer report that said we take in like 171K or something, then we pay out 135K for the JWO. My local chapter puts the newsletter on the web, if somebody wants it mailed, they charge a fee. The OCA webpage has a place to post the news letter, but they don't do it. Hell...they could PAY somebody 35K a year to do it and save 100K !!! This is not really "rocket science" either, no pun intended.
The short story is, the old president that was voted out fairly now wants to rerun. That's because he and his cronies that are on the BOD, still won't cooperate with the newer officers, like Jerry. Now...nobody wants to run for pres, because you can't accomplish anything. So...the old pres wants to be a write in, because it's the same as running unopposed. His friends will vote him in.

I wasn't really serious about taking it over and changing it. With their now accepting Oldsmobiles through 1979, I would guess about 80 or 90% of the current OCA membership could move over without a problem.
The only thing wrong with the OCA is Putin(Yancey) won't give up the ghost. I have never in my life seen anything like it. There's been guys who lost the POTUS that didn't put out such nonsense. He's a narcissist pure and simple.
Wow, thus is quite the peyton place drama, i just recently joined the new england olds club because the by-law changed to allow local membership without joining OCA. At this point im glad i didnt join OCA i hate to judge without all facts and hearing from both sides but Yancy sounds like a liability and he should be dealt with accordingly
NEOC is a good club, you will like it there. They sponsered the Nats a few years ago, they worked hard and did a great job! Yeah...save your $, I wouldn't join right now if I were you. Wait and see how this works out first. Take a look at the OCA webpage, and you will see how it's dated, no minutes from recent meetings, crappy mission statement, etc. I loved being a member, it's just all this in-fighting has taken the fun out of it. Then...when I look at where the money goes, and how they only give 1,000.00 for the museum, it seems like it's a waste of my $. There is no communication with the members really except for once a year at the Nats. Been a member about 20 years, it's only because I know people that I know what's going on. They banned all editorial commentary on the website and in the JWO a few years back. So now...nobody knows what's going on unless you know somebody.

I agree...wow..we are definitely on the same wavelength, that's the EXACT same thing I said to somebody else, a mass exodus. But...Yancey + his boys don't care, because if everybody leaves he gets his way + say. And...they get the CD that you and I have helped build for them. They can build a really nifty clubhouse with a couple of lifts in it down in TX for that $$$. So...what do they care if people leave the OCA? Far as I know, Yancey's name is STILL on that CD. Honestly, I think it's all part of the big plan. Because I don't think the OCA is saving up to make a REALLY big donation to the Olds museum. 'Course...he's never going to come on here and say anything. He only works through his pawns. It's the most dangerous kind of person on earth who gets peeps to do his bidding.
Mike , Beyond the antics why is there so much extra damn money? How about:
Lower the dues so membership will go up?
Spend it to modernize to appeal to more than the 60 to 70 something's with show cars?
Large donation to the olds museum?
Spend $50k on consumer research to ask a cross section of members and non members what they want from an org?
How about spending some trying to draw in Alero or Aurora or Intrigue owners?
Go forward dont spend the money on JWO, unless a member wants to pay extra dues for a hard copy. How about $10 a year and no mag? You get an app to get a digital only version. Like a real magazine company.
What does the JWO offer that you cant get online? I will say it, its overall boring. This place is more informative for free.
Membership dues could easily be cut.
I want the previous and current board and leadership to read this .......
You will forever be connected to the demise of the OCA. Hope you are proud.
This matter of the $250k .....
No man, for any considerable period, can wear one face to himself and another to the multitude, without finally getting bewildered as to which may be true.

I'm happy to no longer give the OCA my money.

I'm not so much worried about the CD and the amount in reserves because if the membership continues to go down, they will need it to stay afloat. The very thing Yancey is complaining about, the OCA website could be the very thing that saves the OCA. The problem is,he didn't think of it or just didn't do it. I don't think the dues are the cause of lower membership,I think it's just the car hobby as a whole is in decline. Just look @ NASCAR,NHRA etc. to see what's happening with cars and motorsports. As far as JWO goes,I think the classifieds are the appeal. There use to be some great guys doing tech articles but they are no longer doing them or at least not as much. I'll stay a member as long as I'm happy with the board, when it goes south,so do I.
Yeah...I thought this was what the Zone directors and BOD were supposed to do. Solicit ideas or suggest ideas to improve the club, not battle like dogs against each other. That 250K CD is now 279K...I think. It's in the JWO. I'm pretty sure at one time lifetime memberships were offered for a song, not that long ago. Geez'...I wonder if they are getting their JWO's 1st class mail? Who knows who's getting 1st or second class mail? Sure...we see the budget, but not really! Right, they could do a lot of stuff if they worked together. I question this whole org now. More + more each day, I'm just totally losing confidence. I still can't believe there are like FORTY FIVE chapters with Presidents and members who I know are reading this right now. But they say zip, the apathy is terrible. I know there are more peeps than this handful on here who know what's happening. So sad..........
Not sure is you fellas were on the email threads, but it is typical Yancy shenanigans. He sent out the email and sat back to let his friends deal with it. like tossing a grenade in a barn and watching it burn.
In one email someone said he did the same with email removing OCA lawyer Yancy has him removed then sat back and let his friends do his dirty work.
The guy is an arsonist. He likes starting these fires. Why else would he not respond? This was his plan all along.
How come nobody talking about Consoli's claim that Yancy nominated a corrupt guy (kolasar) from Ohio? Doesn't that seem odd that a Texan nominates someone for a zone in Ohio?

Interesting how some of you appear only when this topic comes up. I mean, quiet for a year and as soon as it flames back up (albeit with an innocent post) you're all right back in the fray again. I guess you have your notification preferences set to alert you when the fire starts again...
In the meantime, haven't seen anything constructive from any of you- no technical info, no part # or trim code decodes, nothing really useful.
As I said last time this mess was running rampant: if you don't like what's being done, quit bitching, get off your damn *** and run for a Zone or National office yourself. THEN you might have some credibility...
I pulled ten years in that rodeo so I don't hesitate to speak out on this. Brought the ASE Zone from two chapters to nine and hosted two National Meets and four Zone shows- only to watch it go down the tubes after I'd had enough of the previous megalomaniac president and packed it in. Then said president appointed ineffective people to the Zone positions and ASE went rapidly downhill.
35 years in power generation industry have taught me two memorable things. One, people who can't or won't do your job are always your harshest critics and two, nothing is impossible to the man who doesn't have to do it. The Oldsmobile Club of America is not much different.
Run for an OCA office. The worst you could do is find yourself being excoriated because someone else thinks you should do it differently.

I absolutely agree here, just because you did your time, it doesn't give you the right to criticize me or others. I don't have any email alerts set for this crap. I just happen to know people who know. The reason you don't see me on here much, is because I'm working on Buicks now, I spend my time And efforts on V8Buick.com where I have over 1K posts helping people in the last year or so. I'm buying Buicks now, because I'm kind of priced out of the Olds market. Actually...I'm not really priced out at all. The truth is that Oldsmobiles are way overpriced right now. I can get a LOT better Buick, that's faster, and more realistically priced. I won't run for office because actually...I HATE politics. All I'm trying to do is get the word out. Which...while you HAVE been in the rodeo...I don't see you doing much of. Don't kill the messengers if you don't like the news.

Did you search every post of every person in this thread? Until you do, what basis do you use to make your claim? You just like to wave your useless finger?
Are the only people that are suppose to be here are those that can teach and offer guidance? Are we suppose to kick out people who come here for part # or trim codes but can't offer in return?
You are qualified to call the past president a megalomaniac because you were an officer? But being past or present members or having interaction with those involved doesnt make us qualified to have an opinion????
I don't care what your credentials are.
Your words carry more weight with me than any role professionally or otherwise.
In this case I'm underwhelmed by your accomplishments based on the way you talked down to people in this thread.
I've already been an elected officer for a non profit with 3000 members. 4 years with one being president. You can't hold your volunteer service over me as being more insightful.
I've already acted on my words regarding the OCA.
Looks like they are going to delay the election.

Motion
On behalf of the Oldsmobile Club of America Election Committee, Eastern Great Lakes Zone Director Ken Nicholas has submitted the following motion to delay the current election:
Whereas, eight of the eighteen (44%) of the elective positions in the Oldsmobile Club of America do not have candidates, and
Whereas, the OCA Bylaws define a quorum as two members of the Executive Committee and eight Zone Directors (OCA Bylaw 4.51), and
Whereas, two zones have no Director candidates, and
Whereas, the OCA Bylaws and Policy Manual do not prohibit “write in” votes, and
Whereas, most members are not aware of the ability to “write in” names for candidates for elective positions, and
Whereas, the current situation would allow a candidate to be elected with a nominal number of votes,
Resolved, that election of members be delayed for two months to allow the Board of Directors to identify a full complement of candidates for Board position and explain the availability of “write in” votes.
The motion is submitted on behalf of a committee and does not require a second.
Supporting Information
For the 2014 election, candidates have not been identified for the following positions:
President
Treasurer
Atlantic Northeast Zone Director (1)
South Central Zone Director (2)
Pacific Northwest Zone Director (2)
Pacific Southwest Zone Director (1)
The OCA Bylaws and Policy Manual do not address the ability of members to write in names of members who might serve in the various positions. As a result, guidance for “write in” ballots is found in other documents including Wisconsin State Statutes, Articles of Incorporation, and Robert’s Rules of Order. Because few members are familiar with that documentation and members deserve an opportunity to have input regarding the individuals who will represent them, the Election Committee recommends that the election be delayed pending identification of members to fill the positions for which there are no candidates.
While the delay in the vote addresses the immediate problem, the Election Committee suggests that the Board identify the reasons for a lack of candidates and address those issues during the next Board meeting. If changes are required to the OCA Bylaws or Policy Manual to address the problems, appropriate action should be taken.
The Election Committee recommends that members of the Board take the initiative to identify candidates for the positions without candidates.
In summary, the revised election schedule would be:
· Additional candidates nominated not later than May 1, 2014,
· Announcement in June 2014 issue of Journey With Olds, an
