OAI hood pin won't release

I have a stuck driver's side hood pin in my OAI hood. I've found some older threads regarding this but without a clear concensus as to what the best approach is to get it unstuck. I tired wiggling and tapping this thing hoping I could recenter the latch pin so it goes through the bracket. Now I'm thinking I might have to cut it with a Dremel tool. I've had the car for 24 years and this hood pin has always been a little wonky to get it to release but it never got stuck like this. Before I do surgery on it I want to check to see if there anyone has other ideas.

Do a search on this sight, this has been discussed numerous times, it’s not a particularly rare occurrence. Unfortunately, the driver side is a tougher nut to crack than the passenger side.

You need a good reach and the world's smallest pair of channel locks.

Good luck, there is an answer out there. I’ve resorted to not fully securing mine to avoid this rare but possible (and very challenging) situation.

I have not dealt with this in years. But, you can attempt by removing the front two headlights and potentially gain access through there. Use a bore scope as well. Good luck

When my driver's side got stuck in my prior car, i just took a huge channel locks and wrapped the teeth with a rag and just twisted the hood pin around til it broke.
it worked and then i just had to get a new pin.
I think i got that idea from one of the threads in here.

I managed to get it to release. The way I did it was to use a 2ft long pry bar, get under the car and use the pry bar to center the pin by twisting the pry bar against the side of the bracket and pushing the pin into the proper position. It is a clear shot from under the car to get to the underside of that bracket. The battery does not get in the way.

I used to have to reach up from underneath. Thank God for long arms.
