OAI Hood Metal Frames

Are the metal frames on the 1970 W-25 hood identical to the metal frames on the 1971-72 W-25 hoods?

I would say no, as the 71-72 hood is different than 70.

The motive behind the post is that we have a all fiberglass hood (for a 1972 Cutlass) where some of the fiberglass framing got busted. We thought we could take the rest of the fiberglass framing off and bond a metal frame to it. However, I have seen in some other threads that Thorton may not be selling frames as they once did. I talked to Troy Thornton, at the 2009 Nationals in Seven Springs, and I thought I remember him saying he had 1970 frames, but no 71-72 frames. Our other option would be to get a metal frame OAI hood from The Parts Place, but I see they only advertise it for the 1970 model year. That is why I wonder if the frames are different.

The only difference would be at the leading edge, due to the notches to clear the larger 71-72 grilles. I'm betting that a 1970 frame could be modified to fit a 71-72 hood with little effort.

I saw a pic a few years ago where a guy bonded a replacement metal frame to a real Ram Air hood, I'll bet he used 50 or 60 pairs of vice grips to clamp the edges, looked good when he finished.
