The fix is to align the hood with the fender everywhere but the left (driver's) front corner. In other words, lower the front rubber bumper on that side.
The factory 1970 OAI hood should line up well with the fender, but the front corner droops. It would take a lot of fiberglas work to fix the droop. And, as far as I'm concerned, that would be taking away from its originality. Look at picture of other 1970s and you'll see what I mean.

how do u tell
thanks guys how do u tell if it's an original hood. I work on the alignment again today and got a better fit on the drivers side. I found that the underhood metal reinforcement has crakes on each side of the area were the channel is cutaway about a 1/2 inch or so on each side. I installed a few thick washer into the slot and it put the hood back with the fender. but there is still a high spot about 2/3 of the way down (the center of the high spot is about 2 inches behind the front part of the hood hinged were it bolts to the hood).
thanks for the input guys any other input will be appreciated

The rear of the hinge doesn't fit flush with the hood, and requires shims or the original horseshoe shaped spacers. Try screwing all three hood bumpers down and keep checking to see if the high point on the hood will fit close to flush with the fender. Also, check to be sure the hood isn't hitting the rubber bumpers. Is the gap even on both sides? As others have said the OAI didn't always fit that good, and previous repairs can create fitment issues.
hood fit
the passenger side fit is very good the problem is a high spot 2/3 of the way form the front I have the front on the hood flush with the fender and the back flush with the fender but a high spot 2/3 of the way down. if I push down on it I can make it go flush and the fit is good all the way down. the gaps on each side are good and the hockey stick and eyebrow fits are good
