Night time pics

I've always been a fan of night time car pictures but I've never been good at taking any. This summer I took the time to read up on it and spoke to a professional photographer who gave me some tips.

Here are the best ones I got of the Cutlass. I've got some others of Mustangs but not sure anyone would want to see those But I'll post them if you want me to.

This is my favorite but you can see me in it if you look closely. I was told to not leave the lights on for the whole exposure but I didn't move fast enough while turning them on.

I think he means what are the details? Are you digital?or Old school. What kind of equipment did you use? Filters? Software involved? What kinda of glass were you using or it just an Iphone photo?

Photography is a hobby enjoyed by many. I think you did a nice job. Tell us how you did it and what you learned from it.

Your talking to a bunch of gear heads here.

My camera is a Canon SX40 HS which is a point and shoot. The only other equipment I used was a tripod.

All images I've resized/cropped in Photoshop. The only editing I did was to the 2nd picture (the one you see the car's driver side). I used Photoshop to remove a street light that looked like it was sticking out of the hood.

One problem I have is that I never look beyond what I am taking a picture of other than general setting. I didn't notice the street light until I was looking at the pictures on my computer later.

They are American Racing. I think the model is VNT70R.

Night shots look amazing, that's the time when my wife and I really enjoy taking a cruise.
Windows open, enjoying the night air.
Nice picture's , awesome , those rims look spectacular on the car. The third picture almost looks like you have red line tires. Cool!!

What were the settings on f stop, shutter speed, and, I guess they still call it film speed? Looks good. The blurred car lights in the back are interesting.

To be honest I can't remember. I was just adjusting things as I went. I tried taking some night time pics a while later and couldn't get them that nice again.

Opening the picture in a program like irfan view or others can show you this info.

Jerr, I sent one of them this year and made the back cover. Have this year's calendar hanging on the wall at work, too bad my car is hidden I'll make sure to submit another one next year. Do you mind if a picture is edited a bit, such as to remove a street light?
