Newest addition, 1987 Ciera with 50K miles

Just picked this 87 Cutlass Ciera up with 50,000 miles. Using it for a daily driver but my wife and kids don't like the color, lol. I don't really like it either but it runs and drive really nice and for the money I don't think I will find anything else as good. it has a slight pull to the right so I will go ahead and get the steering aligned. Other than that, the radio don't work and the A/C needs charged. I have enough R-12 so if it holds a vacuum I will just charge it and see what happens. I may have paid a little more than I should have at $1900 but I think it is going to turn out to be a very reliable car.

On another note, If I find it don't get at least 20MPG I will need to sell it. I only want a daily driver if the gas savings justifies having it. My truck gets 10 MPG in the city and just want this to keep the truck parked.

You should get a lot better than 20 MPG, white ain't a bad color and 10 minutes with a pressure washer will make that engine shine. Looks like a winner to me..... Tedd

Sounds like a good score to me... It should serve your purpose quite well as a daily driver... I have had several Ciera over the years and they served me quite well as daily drivers... Low maintenance and good mileage... In fact I still own a 1996 Ciera, don't drive it much (less then 5.5K miles on it) but did take it on a couple long trips before adding it to my collector vehicle insurance...

We had a 92 when my wife and I got married. It was our first car together. I paid $3000 for it and was a wonderful car. We didn't have to put a dime into that car and drove it for 5 years.

Not a lot of power in the 2.8 especially on the freeway on ramps. Injectors like to fail every once in a while so be wary of that. Not sure on the 20 mpg but it will do better than the truck.

I had a '95 Buick Century with the 3.1. It got mid 20s MPG-wise.
