I have a few questions on what to do with 2 of my 66s.
On my 66 F85 wagon, how can I remove the trim around the side front and rear door glass so I can go get them polished?
On my 66 F85 Deluxe 442, the front side window glass, I dont know which window stops go where, the 2 that stop the glass from going up, can anyone take a pic of the inside of a door of the stops?
If you mean the trim in this picture. At the top you can see the rusty screw heads below the stainless that secure it to the body. Same on the front doors.
So on your wagon that would be like a post car door. I believe they're aluminum in 1966 and if they're anodized you'll take the coating off if you polish them. They can be re-anodized but I'm under the impression that's pretty spendy. If you want to go that route try searching this site for anodized to see what others have done. To remove them, I've never done that before but suspect you'll need to be careful not to distort them so you can put them back on afterwards.
OK, not sure I follow the window glass stops. Here's one that stops it from going too far down, its a large L shaped bracket with rubber in it. If I'm on the wrong track let me know and I'll try to find what you need if someone else doesn't post it first. John
Thanks for helping me John, on my 442 which is a hardtop, I'm asking about the up stops which are bolted to the window mount metal frame thing, one is bigger than the other, the shop before mine took everything apart.
I was unaware about the moldings on my wagon being anodized, most of it is almost a chalky white and no polish I have is doing anything to it.
OK, I think this is what you described. This glass is loose, but I checked one inside a door and it also has one facing one way then the other facing the other side. Let me know if this covers what you needed. John
Here's some pictures of a 1964 F85 wagon. I believe your trim would be like this. If you do want to remove it, look for the tabs to straighten and gently work it off. I'd use something soft against it like a piece of wood and a hammer to tap it off.
