Interesting new BullShed from one of the Big Vendors

epay ad for a pulley says it is for
"1968-72 442 W-30 W-31..."

and "NOS"

Yet, the illustration clearly says "except 35W30" applications, and the ad text says "...NON AIR CONDITIONING CARS/NO HEAVY DUTY COOLING OR W-30 GM#405462"

I don't see how one can justify advertising a part as for W30 in the title oh but wait not really for W30 applications in the text and NOS but well we won't say so in so many words but it's actually a reproduction item and not "New Old Stock" at all.

To be accurate, it is not a GM Part 405462... it is a REPLICA of said part. A small but not negligible distinction.

I find this type of dishonesty distasteful. Not quite outright lies, but certainly not the most straightforward manner of presentation either.

 

Sadly, the use of unrelated search terms to maximize viewing of the ad is the norm on ebay today. The how-to-sell-on-ebay tutorials even tell you to do this. It makes writing a useful search script impossible (as does ebay's new restrictions on number of characters and deletion of wildcard search characters, but that's a different rant...).

How many times do you get an ad for a Chevy part that incorrectly has "olds" or "442" somewhere in the title?

I noticed in searching CL recently for a "saturn" that LOTS of ads for fords and whatnot appeared... 1000 "keywords" at the bottom - every auto term known to man.

I flag 'em.

Spam, is what it is.
