Hey all.
Getting a 70 cutlass "s" could you get them with a 455?
It has a 455 f block with E heads boxed control arms power windows no air. When the guy bought this car 10 years ago he thought it was a 442.
It has all the badges, the boxed control arms the motor but a 336 vin i was wondering is it possible it left the factory with the 336 vin as a 442 i heard of this but never seen it. Dont really car either way just trying to find out what the deal is.

Pretty sure a 70 442 VIN starts with 344, so sounds like a clone with lots of good parts. You could special order most anything in those days but 442 was it's own model with different VIN codes from the Cutlass/F85. Have you seen the FAQ on this site - http://www.442.com/oldsfaq/oldsfaq.htm
Post the cowl tag info and VIN so people more knowledgable than me can help. What are your plans for the car?
