New Addition - 1970 Cutlass
New Addition - 1970 Cutlass
You may have read a bit about my barn find 1970 in my post here...https://classicoldsmobile.com/forums...barn-find.html
Well, I just got back from making a deposit on it so I thought I'd share a couple photos. The car was repainted in the late 80s or early 90s, not long before going into storage. Underneath the years of settled dust, grime and crumbling drywall paste from the ceiling joints is a perfect paint job on what looks to be a rust-free body (some small areas were patched), rechromed bumper, grills which were NOS when installed and still look as good. Original GM parts were readily available (and used) when the work was done.
The Cutlass emblems were removed from the fenders and trunklid, and 442 numbers added to the gravel guard. The donor 442's front disc brakes were also added to the car.
The interior isn't too bad at all, needs a good cleaning but the front bench has some seams ripping as can be expected.
The original 350 was replaced with a 260 which ran fine when the car was parked.
It will be a few weeks before we can finalize things and get the car home but I'm really looking forward to getting it out in the sun, giving it a good bath and getting to know it.
The down side is that three Cutli are too many for the space I have, so the '72 is for sale. I'll keep the '71 for the time being and put it's restorative work on the back burner until this '70 is up to snuff.
I haven't done much decoding on the cowl tag yet, help is welcome, lol. Fremont build, paint code is Burgandy Mist? It's now a charcoal grey colour at any rate.
