My New stable addition - Saffron 67 F-85

My new Saffron 67 F-85 arrived yesterday. It was transported to me here in Ohio from Fremont, New Hampshire. Car was purchased from an Olds guy acquaintence, Brian Prescott! Brian owned the car for 12 years. It will be a great Driver/Cruiser. It has a 330/320HP with upgraded TH 400 and 3.08 posi rear. 75K original miles. Gonna enjoy driving on longer trips such as going to Homecoming next summer!! I now have 4 67s in my "barn" along with my 68 Ramrod project car!!

Very nice, but confused with valve cover sticker. It shows to be low compression.

I found the one for my other car by advertising for a vista cruiser bezel. Some folks dont realize they are the same so i found one in no time after asking for the vista cruiser one! I actually traded a couple of trim pieces for it! Can anyone help?

You are right -- the car was originally a 2 bbl model and the previous owner installed the Q-jet at same time he upgraded the Jetaway to a Turbo-Hydramatic. So I guess that would make it a 310HP 4 bbl ??

I like the color too. I briefly had a '68 442, and the Saffron and black interior was one of the reasons why i bought the car (certainly didn't buy it for the 400 that was on its last leg or the rust holes in the rear quarters ).

Yep column shift turbo 400 in a 67 vista or TP cruiser or 442 is what ya need. They are scarce so it pays to advertise. Very rare on Ebay and I dont have one.

Very clean car. You don't really need a PRNDSL, everyone will think it's just a two speed until you blow them away at the lights!!! If you need to go into low, pull the shifter down another notch.

Capp -- Only 3 of em are "presentable" at this time -- The 42 club coupe, the white 67 CS 442, and now the saffron F-85. A nice group pic is a great Idea! Maybe I will do that one of the next nice days we get! OR -- just have Big Jerr photo-shop me a nice collage??

Has the hood been replaced? The F85 hood did not have a wind split. Just the rocket emblem in the center front. Basically a 442 hood except for the rocket and no louvers.

Edz -- This F-85 has been "enhanced" with several Cutlass trim items including the hood trim that you mention as well as having had the rubber floor covering replaced with carpet, the addition of the stainless mouldings arount the window and door frames ( stock was body color), and of course the steel wheels with dog-dish caps have been "upgraded" with the Buick wheels with Olds center caps. This car is truely one of those cars that the owner did it "his way" and wasnt concerned with total originality - just wanted a car that would be fun to drive and "catch an eye or two" along the way!! I intend to keep it that way while maybe adding a few "upgrages" of my own. The possibility of switching it to bucket seats exists as well - even though buckets were NOT available as an option on the F-85!! Again, this is a car that is done to the "owner's liking"!! Isnt that what its really all about??

If you already have a column shift "face", all you need to change is the clear plastic insert to one with the correct shift lettering. The "face" is windowed for column shift automatic cars, and blanked out for floor shift cars.

Thanks! My wheels are 15" SS1s made by Wheel Vintiques. I was running SSIIs and they just didn't look right.
