Mystery Solved 67 Clips Rear Molding?

I have found these on my 67 442 under the rear windshield moldings, never knew what they were and how they were supposed to hold the molding in place. Apparently these metal "things" are to help with anti-corrosion of the glass channel. See pictures and bulletins.

The thing not quite clear to me is these seem to replace the original molding clips? I don't see how they could do that....

I am going to pop off the reveal and send you a pic of the clip in the rear and the one that is broken in the front. Thanks so much for your help!

Mind blown. I've started drying the car with my backpack blower, and it's amazing how much water gets in that channel.

No. There were supposed to be additional studs to hold these clips. They are not molding clips, they are sacrificial anodic clips like the anode rod in your water heater. The clips were supposed to decompose and pull the oxidizing electrons away from the steel.

^^ This. Probably why they are usually missing from under the reveal molding. They do actually dissolve over time.

Yes, what Joe and Ed said, that's it. There's a bulletin or something in the Olds Guilds about this, too.
